FormPipe Software AB has expanded operations with its old-standing partner Sigma to include new project to be done by Eclipse SP. Eclipse SP and FormPipe Software laid the foundation for collaboration in 2008 with a small QA project, which was considered as a pilot one for proving the value of Eclipse SP services. Being very pleased with the quality of work and the level of the services provided, FormPipe Software decided to outsource further projects to Eclipse SP team.

Therefore, Eclipse SP team was assigned to deliver technical review of one of the FormPipe Software products, Enterprise Content Management platform Platina. Being also involved in Platina ECM implementation and sales activities, Eclipse SP has put this experience to a good use in this new project, which is aimed to assess product’s state, architecture and quality characteristics.

Platina is a process-controlled ECM product based on Microsoft .Net. The system is used within many business areas to improve the efficiency and ensure quality assurance of information management in modern organizations. It helps to structure, consolidate and improve the efficiency of the business processes of both public and private sector companies.

Platina Technical Review is analysis project, in which it is necessary to create architectural documentation and reports describing Platina product. It includes activities for comprehensive Platina architecture analysis, documenting, product quality evaluation and system quality improvements suggestions development.

Technical review covers the following aspects:

• System architecture and system components analysis and review
• System architecture specification development
• System reliability and quality review
• Load and stress testing, performance review
• Performance testing in Citrix environment
• Common improvements working out and reporting

Platina Technical review is successfully accomplished. After that, due to excellent results of the project, FormPipe Software had decided to involve Eclipse SP team in further product development.

More than 2 years of cooperation and 14 accomplished projects delivered for and in cooperation with Sigma Kudos resulted in Eclipse SP being contracted to develop an application for Sigma Kudos innovative documentation management platform DocFactory. The application is aimed at enhanced documentation management and viewing.

Eclipse SP assigned an offsite team of 4 developers and a PM to develop Documentation Viewer, which is software for technical documentation management and viewing. It performs converting of input documents zip archive to HTML templates and presents the contents as tree structure of topics (wiki-style document management). The system support HTML/CSS, PDF, Flash movies, all web image formats as options for information presenting.

The solution developes helps users to:

• Download, convert and present to user zipped documents in various formats: HTML/CSS, PDF, Flash movies and all web image formats;
• Preserve a large set of XML documents with technical information, grouped together as publications or zipped in portable packages and present their contents as tree structure of topics (wiki-style document management);
• Manage access and restrict external peers.

The solution was developed for wide target audience of specialists working with great amount of documentation daily. It allows users easy viewing and searching through offline and online DocFactory packages using regular PC browsers. With the use of developed solution, every documentation can be easily packed, burned on CD and distributed over target audience or just uploaded to common Windows server for public use.

Customer is the world-leading supplier of engines and complete power systems for marine and industrial applications. Eclipse SP was requested to deliver a software system that will allow ordering vehicle parts and their distribution from centre to service representatives, also including advanced features for marketing purposes. The best solution for this purpose is MS Commerce Server based system, which introduces all needed possibilities.

Project goal was to develop a comprehensive electronic vehicle part catalogue with such features: it should be integrated in Enterprise Environment, allow ordering products via multi-level distribution channels with implementation of complex pricing, provide the possibilities of discounting and shipment cost calculation models using only the tools and technologies available in MS Commerce Server. The main challenge was to build branched-structure solution that would fit Customers global marketing & distribution needs, providing users with easy approach for making site updates and file-tuning.

Result: Developed solution forwards the order data in appropriate format from service representative to the distribution center closest to the location of the order placement district. The application is based on Microsoft Commerce Server and uses MS SQL as database. Now Order Service is used in Customer’s distribution centers and greatly streamlines the vehicle parts ordering process. Main features are:

Multirater.com is a service firm providing unsurpassed high quality technical integration in the area of industrial/organizational psychology since 1997. Its M360 tool allows integration of 360 feedback surveys, customized email notification sets, customized project configurations, and the presentation of the surveys, as well as the user interface, in multiple languages.

Eclipse SP had to implement and roll-out the second version of the system based on the specification and pre-existing prototype. One of the project’s challenges was to support the version 1 installation, that was working on the customer’s site while developing and rolling out the second version of the system. Eclipse SP carefully developed and tested the data migration procedure from the first version into the next in conditions when the data in the first version of the system changed every minute.

As the result of almost a year of work, Eclipse SP LLC has rolled-out the second version of the M360 system and migrated data from the large database of the first version of the tool. The M360 tool is now installed in a one of the world’s leading software corporations and is used to provide feedback on thousands of its current employees, as well as to store reports on many thousands of its past employees.

Main features of the solution are:

• Role Based Security. There are five user populations: focus, raters, project administrators, super administrator and feedback facilitators. The M360 tool allows for each population to have associated capabilities and limitations.
• Surveys. The system supports surveys containing questions grouped into dimensions.
• Rate Management. The M360 tool supports the entire 360-feedback process.
