Cardo AB and its subsidiaries engage in the manufacture and supply of doors, pulp and paper solutions, as well as wastewater technology and logistics services. Headquartered in Malmo, Sweden, Cardo operates in approximately 30 countries worldwide. This results in the need to share information about recent events and developments across the whole company.

Since the company uses Intranet based on MOSS 2007 for sharing information, it was decided to add advanced news publishing features to it to safeguard fast and efficient news sharing.

Aiming at making a reusable solution, Eclipse SP team has developed a universal news management application, which allows users to publish news on different layers and provide maximum performance benefits in search and data management operations.

The application allows guest and administrator roles, which have access to similar search and data management functions.

• Authentication mechanism. An application supports two roles – ‘administrator’ and ‘anonymous’.
• Search engine. The system uses SharePoint search for this purpose. SharePoint content’s indexing job is scheduled to start every 20 minutes.
  Interface alteration, depending on the user’s role (‘administrator’ or ‘anonymous’).
• Managing news activities for administrators, which are news creation & editing tasks.
